Li-Ion batteries for electric bikes have evolved impressively in a few short years: Had we been told just a few years ago that the current crop of Li-Ion batteries would perform so well and that the prices would be at the current level we would frankly have been skeptical. Of course we are yet to gain first hand experience with ultimate longevity of Li-Ion in the electric bike application.
Our experience over 6 years with NiMH batteries in the Giant Lite, SuedeE and Panasonic folder has been highly satisfactory as far as performance, reliability and longevity.
