BikeRadar: "New Road-E+ is Remarkably Capable"
Last month Giant unveiled its full new line of 2017 E-bikes at a product launch in Kirchberg, Austria. The 2017 E-bike range consists of six series including Road-E+, Quick-E+, Full-E+, Dirt-E+, Prime E+,and Explore E+. Each series is built on Giant’s Hybrid Cycling Technology, a system that combines electric power with human power to produce a powerful, efficient and natural E-bike riding experience for riders of all types.
The Road-E+ blends Giant’s world-leading expertise in performance road bikes with innovative Hybrid Cycling Technology to deliver a whole new road riding experience. With its purpose-built geometry, balanced weight distribution and integrated power, Road-E+ helps riders conquer busy commutes and extend their road riding adventures.
Featuring a SyncDrive Sport motor that delivers up to 80Nm of torque and is sonically tuned for quiet performance, the Road-E+ is powerful, efficient and fun to ride. Its handlebar-mounted RideControl lets you easily adjust riding modes and view data including speed, distance and battery level. The integrated EnergyPak battery system has the highest energy density in its class, giving riders up to 25 percent more range than most batteries of similar size and weight.
Following the launch in Kirchberg, initial reviews of the 2017 Road-E have begun to appear in the media.
“Although the Road-E+ bears a strong resemblance to Giant’s entry-level Defy range, it’s been designed from the ground up as an e-bike,” wrote BikeRadar.com senior technical writer Matthew Allen. “Like all Giant's latest offerings in the segment, the battery is neatly integrated with the down tube. The bike is powered by a Yamaha SyncDrive unit. The level of assist is controlled by the RideControl switch unit that sits on the bars next to a screen displaying useful info like remaining battery capacity, and various ride metrics including speed and distance.”
Summing up his initial experience on the bike Allen wrote: “There’s no denying that the Road-E+ is remarkably capable.”
