Who Buys Folding Bikes?

Reasons given by our customers for acquiring a small wheeled folding bike typically include the nimble riding enjoyment, aesthetics, fascination with design, taking advantages of more bicycling opportunities, the satisfaction of making a unique and forward thinking purchase and obviously the space and security benefits relating to a bike that folds away crisply and quickly in to a small package.

Above all our customers talk about how superbly a well designed, small wheeled folding bike rides.

What about demographics such as gender, age, education and income? The customer base seems—we certainly do not ask—quite broad, viz.:

While the largest customer group consists of active 'middle-aged' folks from seemingly numerous walks of our customers are getting younger. Not the same ones, sorry.

Our customers appear bright and/or well educated (at least compared to us), although it would seem that neither would be required to discern the obvious benefits of the folding bike?

About one third of our customers are women and we expect this number to reach about half over the next few years.

There is a growing interest in more 'adventurous' choices of color.

We sell to those who own several bikes and those whose only bike is their new folder, to ardent cyclists who ride mighty distances, to those who ride to a nearby bus stop, to those who bring their folders to distant countries and to those who rarely leave the neighborhood, to those who keep their folders in a closet, car trunk or under their desk and to those who stow them on mega yachts and in private planes.
