The electric bike is an emerging new category of vehicle for those of us who enjoy pedalling.
The 'electric' bike may best be described as 'human power augmented' as in blending human and motor power. Herein lies its uniqueness, utility and exceptional riding enjoyment.
While electric bikes are ridden by cyclists of all ages and proficiency the electric bike is above all about the exceptionally enjoyable riding experience. See also The Cyclist's Electric Bike Shop.
The electric drive components are designed to be low maintenance and the rest consists of quality standard bicycle parts obtainable and serviceable 'anywhere'. This refers to the brands we sell.
The law regards the 'electric-assisted' (WA state) or 'motorized bicycle' (CA state) as a non-motorized vehicle and as a bicycle. Read what Washington and California state laws stipulate. Laws in other states and local ordinances are similar. Federal law PL107-319 in the U.S. (and a corresponding in Canada) defines the electric-assisted bicycle as a non-motorized vehicle (i.e. bicycle) and places it under the jurisdiction of the Consumer Protection Commission (rather than DOT).
eZee offers a remarkable selection of distinct, fully equipped and comfortable models: Sprint, Cadence, Torq, Forza, Persuade, Quando and Carro. eZee bikes are furthermore for riders who appreciate smooth, exhilarating performance. As an integral part of its product development work eZee routinely enters—and so far wins—electric bike races around the world. The eZee Kinetic Technology Company is a specialized manufacturer of high end electric bikes. Our cooperation with eZee goes back to 2005.
While of course best known as one of the world's top manufacturers of quality regular bicycles our electric bike co-operation with Giant Bicycle Company dates to the 90's selling the LAfree Sport and subsequently the acclaimed Lite and SuedeE. The 4th generation Giant Twist offers the superb integration that can perhaps only be be expected from Giant. Since arriving Summer '08 the Twist has sold very well with much owner acclaim.
We received our first Schwinns only in late Fall '08. The World GSE is now available for test rides in our Seattle store. We look forward to learning more about this bike. In the meantime our first hands on impression is that the World GSE looks great and offers a nice ride.
See our Electric Bike Comparison Table.
The zippy and nimble eZee Quando folds quickly and crisply to 17 x 30 x 34". It weighs 41 lbs (after sliding out the lockable, quick-release battery, which takes only seconds).
Check out the eZee Carro. If you are looking for a serious trike, its specification should speak for itself.
You can now install the race winning eZee drive system on your own bike. The '09 BionX kits will become available in February.
While used eZees or Giant Twists rarely ever come up for sale the occasional early model Giant and the odd other brand do. See Used Electric Bikes.
Come in and test ride a Brompton in our Seattle WA, Oceanside CA and El Segundo CA stores. You'll also find the Giant Halfway in our Seattle WA store.
