Reasons to Ride Electric

Our Fellow Riders

Electric Bikes

A New Vehicle Category

The electric bike is an emerging new category of vehicle for those of us who enjoy pedalling.

The 'electric' bike may best be described as 'human power augmented' as in blending human and motor power. Herein lies its uniqueness, utility and exceptional riding enjoyment.

While electric bikes are ridden by cyclists of all ages and proficiency the electric bike is above all about the exceptionally enjoyable riding experience. See also The Cyclist's Electric Bike Shop.

The electric drive components are designed to be low maintenance and the rest consists of quality standard bicycle parts obtainable and serviceable 'anywhere'. This refers to the brands we sell.

The law regards the 'electric-assisted' (WA state) or 'motorized bicycle' (CA state) as a non-motorized vehicle and as a bicycle. Read what Washington and California state laws stipulate. Laws in other states and local ordinances are similar. Federal law PL107-319 in the U.S. (and a corresponding in Canada) defines the electric-assisted bicycle as a non-motorized vehicle (i.e. bicycle) and places it under the jurisdiction of the Consumer Protection Commission (rather than DOT).

The Most Accomplished and Well Supported Electric Bikes on the U.S. Market

eZee offers a remarkable selection of distinct, fully equipped models. eZee bikes are also for riders who are looking for smooth, exhilarating acceleration. As an integral part of its product development work eZee routinely enters—and so far wins—electric bike races around the world. The eZee Kinetic Technology Company is a specialized manufacturer of high end electric bikes. We are the U.S. importer since 2006.

While Giant Bicycle Company is of course best known as one of the world's top manufacturers of quality regular bicycles our co-operation with Giant dates to the 90's selling the LAfree Sport. We participated in the introduction of the Lite in 2002 and sold it and subsequently the SuedeE until their discontinuance. The new Twist offers the superb integration that may be expected from a 4th generation Giant model. The Twist is now available in our Seattle WA and Oceanside CA stores and shortly in our soon-to-open El Segundo CA store.

See our Electric Bike Comparison Table.

Folding Electric Bikes

The zippy and nimble eZee Quando folds quickly and crisply to 17 x 30 x 34". It weighs 41 lbs (after sliding out the lockable, quick-release battery, which takes only seconds).

Electric Trikes

Check out the eZee Carro. If you are looking for a serious trike, its specification should speak for itself.

Folding Non-electric Bikes

Our stores offer test rides while typically stocking only a few Bike Friday and Brompton models (as most of customer prefer to custom order). Our Seattle WA store additionally stocks the Halfway (by Giant Bicycle) as shall our soon-to-open El Segundo CA store.

Product Support, Service and Parts

Our service departments bring extensive bicycle and electric drive system experience to the job and take great pride in their work. Our primary focus is on assuring first class, prompt service and long term support for all of our own bike customers whether near or far from our stores.

Parts are covered for 6-24 months (including free initial labor) and frames for 5 years. Warranties differ somewhat between brands. Please check the specific page for details.

A to B Magazine

A-to-BA to B magazine is THE publication to read for anyone interested in folding bikes, electric-assisted bikes and public transportation (with the focus on riding as well as carting one's bike). Established, reputable and competent enough to be highly relevant, small and independent enough to be refreshingly irreverent. Each issue includes in-depth reviews of new products, topical articles, extensive correspondence from riders, accounts from shows, bikes for sale resources and more—all delivered with a good deal of humor (albeit of the British kind) and opinion.

A free trial issue of the digital edition is now available.

A to B subscription: one year $38.00

Or call 206/547-4621 or 800/940-6548 with your credit card to start your subscription.
